So far the best edition of This is my sen tournament for Ferencvaros

The Hungarian Ferencvaros Budapest became the winner of the third edition of the tournament „This is my sen“ (TiMS), suited for players aged under eleven. The third edition of april tournament „This is my sen“(TiMS) designed for players in category U11 had the best line-up so far in its short history. Stadium situated on Sihoť hosted sixteen teams from seven countries. The biggest attractions of TiMS tournament were Valencia and WHU, also Slavia Praha, Wisla Krakow, Zaglebie Lubin or Ferencvaros. Despite its short history, the tournament has become the best participated tournament for players aged under eleven years in Slovakia.

Ferencváros from Budapest attended both editions of TiMS tournament and always belonged to teams who ended on high ranks. Last year they ended sixth and two years ago they finished on fourth position. Although they weren´t able to beat Valencia and Slovacko they won the tournament.

„I have to admit, that Trenčín´s club organised a great tournament. We enjoyed it a lot. Two days full of football were totally joyful,“ said coach of the winning team Péter Balász and added: „We have attended a few interesting european tournaments. Therefore we can say that TiMS was at a great level from the beginning. It was a great experience to play against the teams like West Ham or Valencia.“

The football academy „Cantera“, situated in the third biggest Spanish city, had a great finish on the tournament. They climbed up on the fifth position thanks to their five wins in a row from their sunday´s matches. One can say, that they lost their triumph because of their losses against Czech teams Slavia Praha and Zbrojovka Brno. If the young „bats“ had won even one of those matches, they would have been holding the trophy over their heads.

„It was a great tournament. We have never played on the tournament, which was played as a league competition. It was good that all the teams played against each other,“ said the coach of Valencia Alfredo Ramos and continued: „We played on the tournaments, where the teams were divided into groups followed by play-off. It was relieving, that one bad match hadn´t meant a disaster. We enjoyed it way more. We were able to focus primarly on the game. .“

Likewise, Slovacko praised the system, which the TiMS was played by. „It was ideal. We got to know another football cultures. The system was great, that every team played against each other. The final result is not based on luck or coincidence of the draw. We felt great in Trencin. We played a lot of quality matches and we have shown that we can fight not only by results, but also by playing football,“ saied Ondřej Gazdoš.

The West Ham United academy was one rank short for the trophy last year. This year they ended fourth. The WHU won against the third and also the second placed teams, but they lost points in other matches. Which only shows the serenity of this year´s edition of TiMS.

Both previous tournaments won Slovakian teams. The premiere edition of TiMS won AS Trencin in competition with Ajax Amsterdam, Ferencvaros Budapest, Slavia Prague and other major football brands. Last year it were the boys from Slovan Bratislava who cheered after winning the tournament ahead of already mentioned WHU, Zaglebie Lubin and AS Trenčín. Ferencvaros is the first foreign winner.

The boys from AS Trenčín did well on the tournament. The sixth position and performance shown by players of the white team of AS Trenčín were satisfying. They could end better, but it looked like they lacked energy in the end. In the last four matches they acquired only one point. The red team ended on the fourteenth position, but they showed potential.

„If we compare this year´s performance of the teams with a previous editions, we can proudly say that we have made an improvement in the organisation and the quality of the matches. I´m glad that it ended well for us. There is no such a tournament in our region. Our format is only a bonus,“ said the head coach of our youth Miroslav Karas and added: „The parents and other fans made a great atmosphere. From Valencia came more fans that we had expected. The tournament was really multicutlural. It was highly motivating for our further work. Our boys played against a high-quality teams. We want to keep our level on the highest ranks and be able to play football on the same level as the best teams in Europe. That´s why this confontation was very important for us. We want our boys to have their dreams and follow them. We would love to make them play those great matches also in the adult categories.“
