AS went successfully through the first two prep games in Nymburk. The captain Csaba Horváth was missing due to an unpleasant bowel disease. The defender Boris Godál is out for the whole camp because of the injury he suffered in Zlaté Moravce.
AS Trenčín – FK Mladá Boleslav 0:0
The line-up of AS: D. Rožník – Gergel, Szórád, Peciar, Kasálek – Hlohovský (Čögley), Knapp, Lukšík, Chanti (Marček) – Depetris (Šebek, Ekhardt), Križko (Olej)
The Slovak-Czech confrontation brought an interesting duel. Papadopulos’s pass found Kysela already after 5 minutes, but he did not succeed against the defense of AS. Because of the absence of Horváth, Peciar moved to the middle of the defence and Kasálek was on its left.
After this first opportunity of the Czech team, AS Trenčín took initiative. Filip Hlohovský sent several dangerous centers to the penalty area from standard situations – especially the corner kick that found Szorád. The summer succor however missed the target. Almost immediately after, a similar situation repeated when Lukšík’s corner got again to Szorád whose second attempt was wide as well.
The Czech team controlled the ball more after the first 30 minutes. On 30 minutes, Papadopulos tested Rožník’s concentration from 20 meters. Just two minutes later, Szorád’s unpleasant back pass made Rožník’s blood run cool. Fortunately, it missed the goal. Then a series of dangerous corners of Mladá Boleslav followed resulting however in no change in the score. Rožník stopped several good attempts of the team from the top Czech “Gambrinus” league.
Pavel Hapal, the coach of Mladá Boleslav, sent in nine new players in the second half. Especially the Slovak Opiela was very active. The former player of Baník Ostrava first shot himself and then prepared a good chance for Sedláček who missed. Sedláček tried it again on 70 minutes, but the 19-years-old keeper stopped his shot from nearby.
The biggest chance of the match came on 80 minutes. Marček got to the ball after another corner kick of AS, but his good shot from behind the penalty area ended up on the cross-bar of Kubásek’s goal. Then Opiela had one more good chance at the end of the game, but Rožník was excellent and kept a clean sheet against the strong rival.
