The preparation for the current season was accompanied by a great deal of uncertainty about the number one goalkeeper position. Miloš Volešák, one of the biggest spring’s succors in the fight to stay in the top league desired to go abroad, but none of his two possible directions showed to be right. That was why he finally, just before the end of the prep period, signed a one-year contract with Trenčín.
“I can not say that my summer’s situation did disturb me much or stress me out. I knew I needed to practice and play. Of course it was not making me feel better. Once the situation got resolved though, I tried to fully concentrate on Trenčín only;“ said Volešák and added: “A period without training is not good for any sportsman. I also missed the prep games. The whole team was at the training camp and I could only go to the gym. It is different from practicing with the team or playing in a match.“
As far as the Trenčín number one goalkeeper’s performance is concerned, there have been some doubts after the first several games. The reason for them was his uncertainty in some of these games contrasting with his self-confidence in the end of the last season. “I can hardly influence opinions of others. However, I never start playing with a feeling that I am going through an unsuccessful period. I think I was not making big mistakes. Something happened from time to time, that is true. I do not think however that I would have completely failed;“ reacted Volešák with a light smile on his face.
It was his first season’s shutout in the previous round in Rimavská Sobota and, also according to the coaches, he was one of the best players. “We were fighting, but the rival had more opportunities to score. It was unlike the game against Lučenec when the rival only had one shot on goal but it was successful;“ got the Trenčín goalkeeper back to the previous two rounds and concluded; “I have to say that it is better for me to play away than at home. It is better for goalkeepers to be busier than to wait for two or three balls in the whole game.“
