After the two wins in the beginning, AS have been without a full-point gain for five games. This logically resulted in a fall into the lower half of the table. Trenčín is now observing their biggest rivals in the fight for a comeback to the top league from a fair distance. One of the reasons of this situation is the four-game goalless series. It is simply impossible to win if no one is able to score.
Scoring and offensive activity is not only up to the forwards and other offensive players. It is up to the whole team. The whole team participated in the successful eight-goal start in the first two games, and so is it responsible for today’s misery. On the other hand, finalization of offensive activities is a job of forwards who are therefore the unhappiest about the whole situation. That is why we provided an opportunity for them to comment on it.
Juraj Križko: “The truth is that I have recently been the only typical forward in the line-up. This is however not the most important thing. Almost all of us had an opportunity to score in Šaľa, but no one was able to score. You play a game like this maybe once in your life. It is hard to believe, especially after the final result, for anybody who was not there. Moreover, each conceded goal was undermining our self-confidence. We had not been able to create scoring opportunities before, but it was different this time. We have not changed anything in the training process. Perhaps it happened in the half-time with Inter when we led 1-0. Some kind of complacence may have come and we are still not able to find way out of it. I am sure we are going to break it though. We can not be looking at the table and worry about the growing gap between us and the leaders. We have to concentrate on ourselves. I believe that when we finally break it, we will go on and bring some points also from our competitors’ stadiums.“
Filip Hlohovský: “There have been some really unsuccessful games. First, we had not been able to create scoring chances at all. On the other hand, we had a couple of extremely good ones in Šaľa. I am sure we would have seized them in the first two rounds. Maybe it is a pressure because of those recent bad results. Perhaps we just need more patience. I do not understand the reasons for this crisis.“
Lukáš Šebek: “It is true that the coach changed the system to one classical attacker, but there are also more supporting offensive players in the line-up. It is therefore hard to understand the goalless series. We had not had a lot of chances before Šaľa, but we had a lot of them there. I do not think it was complacence. Until the 60th minute against Inter, everything was alright. Then it changed. We are trying all kinds of things to break it – more training, less training, different methods. The coach is thinking hard.“
Filip Lukšík: “Either we are not able to create chances at all or to seize a lot of them. This is an extreme similarly to our five-goal first half against Ružomberok. We need to win even if it should be with some lucky goal. The coach is emphasizing to us not to be impatient in the final phase. No matter how, but we have to score.“
David Depetris: “We are in a difficult situation. We have lost some games that we were supposed to win. We have not changed anything in the training process, and neither have we in our attitude. Maybe we need to concentrate more. We can not miss lots of good opportunities and then concede after one center. We have to concentrate during the whole match. Morale goes down after losses. We are losing self-confidence. Whatever has worked automatically before, it does not work today. I am sure that a win will change everything.“
