“Already during the winter transfer window we received few interesting offers for Van Kessel’s transfer to abroad. However we made an arrangement with Van Kessel that he would help us in struggle for second title and also for Slovnaft Cup. Especially in the second half of the spring season he played very well which caught attention of another clubs. Today is a right time for him to move forward in his career and the offer from Slavia is attractive not only for him but also for the club,” said General Manager of AS Trencin Robert Rybnicek.
“Earlier we announced that Gino would be one of the players who would leave the club. At first we hoped that Gino would play at least in the matches against Ljubljana but we took the possible lack of player’s concentration ahead of these important matches into consideration and decided to complete the transfer now. We look on this transfer as an opportunity for other players to show what they are capable of. In the past we several times sold the players who were seen as key players for our team but this is our way and this transfer doesn’t change anything towards our goals. Finally we would like to thank Gino for everything he done in our club and we are convinced that he is ready to represent the work of our club in the future.”
Van Kessel came to Trencin in the summer of 2013 from the reserve team of Ajax Amsterdam. Step by step he became the one of the best attack player in Fortuna League. After one season in our club he went to Second French Division but still in progress of season 2014/2014 he returned to Trencin. In the last season he became the top scorer of Fortuna League with 17 goals. Together in 72 games in our club he scored 33 goals.
