For the first time in the season, Ivan Galád’s team grabbed full portion of points away after the win in Michalovce 3-2. In spite of the half-time result 1-2 and extremely difficult conditions, the AS players managed to turn the game thanks to their fight spirit and the goals of David Depetris and Marek Bubenko. Bubenko scored in the last minute of regular game time. On Saturday, September 27, AS play home against Humenné and the following home game is going to take place in more than a month on November 1 against Inter Bratislava. There will be three away games in the meantime.
It was a solid match in spite of the mentioned conditions. The home team encouraged by the recent elimination of the Corgoň-League Prešov in the second round of the Slovak Cup (3-1) scored first. Already on 5 minutes Šitov found Gašpar who confirmed his leading position among the first-league strikers by his ninth season’s goal. Right from a counterattack, Lukšík’s accurate center found Hlohovský inside the penalty area and he equalized – 1-1. After almost a half an hour, Szórád kicked a standard situation, Peciar tapped the ball down to Hlohovský, but he did not succeed in a good scoring opportunity. On 33 minutes, Kozár muddled through on the left side and Michalovce took the lead again – 2-1. Coach Galád reacted by a substitution. Godál replaced Szórád and created a brand new and reliable sweeper’s duo with Križko.
Another substitution came before the beginning of the second half. Creative Bubenko replaced Kasálek who is just regaining game practice in the left midfield after his lasting health problems. This showed to be a key decision. Right on 47 minutes, Bubenko created a scoring chance but his shot was blocked by Krakovský. The resulting corner kick was kicked by Hlohovský who found Depetris inside the penalty area and he equalized again – 2-2. On 63 minutes, the most active of the home players Viskup dribbled into the penalty area, but Godál stopped his chance. Trenčín could take the lead three minutes later. Two Trenčín players were rushing onto just one defender, but Hlohovský lost the ball before he could prepare a chance for Depetris. Ten minutes before the final whistle, Peciar sent Hlohovský to another excellent scoring chance, but the home goalkeeper was ready. The decision came in the very last minute of regular time. Bubenko first lost the ball, but he fought hard to get it back and finally scored from an angle – 2:3.
