Bubenko: “We Should Have Scored, Then They Could Simulate”

The home players realize that they did not succeed due to a lot of unseized chances.

Ivan Galád’s team has not conceded a goal for 588 minutes. Their ‘zero’ series at the home stadium has lasted for six games now. They were able to prolong it also against the best ‘away’ team from Rimavská Sobota. Unfortunately, they were not able to score either so the important game ended goalless. “They had known it would be difficult to win or even score here. It was clear from the beginning that they came for the goalless tie. They were absolutely passive and simulate a lot in the second half. The point they gained here is extremely valuable,” the defender Boris Godál said after the game.

The team from Rimavská Sobota came with a clear strategy. And they were finally successful, partially thanks to the benevolence of the referee. “It was a difficult game. Csaba and later also myself had often to call attention of the referees to the fact that their goalie is delaying the game. After each of our chances, he ran out of the penalty area and started directing the defense. He had no interest in a quick kick-in. This happened at least eight times in the second half. Moreover, they were simulating a lot which had not reflected in the amount of extra time. Just three minutes for the substitutions,“ the home leader otherwise not having further objections to the referees’ performance commented. The play was not fluent due to a lot of interruptions. Rimavská Sobota is a very experienced team. They knew what to do to succeed against us,” Godál added.

The home players realize however that they did not succeed mainly due to a lot of unseized chances. “It was mainly our own fault that we lost two points. We missed a lot of good opportunities, especially in the first half. We had two in the first ten minutes already,“ the young defensive pillar commented and the experienced Marek Bubenko added concisely; “We had enough chances to win the game and avoid problems with their tactics. We had been luckier in the previous games. We missed the luck, sometimes just centimeters in this game although we were really trying hard.“
