Five Changes in Lineup Bring Three Points

AS Trenčín - ŽP Šport Podbrezová 2:1 (1:0).

Trenčín had made five changes in the lineup in comparison to the previous round before the game against Podbrezová. The changes concerned all formations including the goalkeeper’s post. Trenčín eventually won the game 2:1 after the goals by Knapp and Peciar and has a four-point deficit behind Zlaté Moravce after the fourth round.

Hlohovský shot already in the first minute, but the goalkeeper of the visitors batted the ball. Team Trenčín was more active and put pressure on the rival. The pressure was finally utilized and resulted in Knapp’s opening goal after his wonderful shot from behind of the penalty area – 1:0. After quarter-hour the visiting Svintek tried something similar, but his shot was wide. In the 21st minute Gergel centered into the penalty area, but both forwards Kubík and Gergel missed the ball. The pace of the game was fading as the play time proceeded. Only the cross-pass by Čögley from the right side looking for Čirik who missed the target is worth mentioning concerning the rest of the first half.

The opening attempt of the second half belonged to Hlohovský again, but his shot was wide this time. The series of mistakes on both sides that followed was interrupted by Peciar’s goal header after the free kick by Horváth. Podbrezová was much more dangerous than in the first half, but Volešák resolved everything. The substitutes Kostúrik and Tírer were unsuccessful as well. The home goalie was only helpless in the overtime when Tubonemi headed after a nice center. There was not enough time though for the visitors to level the score.
