The Argentinean shooter David Depetris is back. He confirmed his qualities already in the first game after his return to Trenčín. AS were able to turn the game against Rimavská Sobota mainly thanks to his scoring abilities. His two goals were not enough though as the guests utilized the home team’s weak performance in the second half for leveling the score. We asked David a couple of questions after the Saturday’s match.
It must be a disappointing return in spite of your two goals…
“I am happy on one hand because I can score and help my team again. I was also looking forward to our fans. The final result of the game is however a disappointment. I am neither satisfied with my own performance. It was still not at 100 percent.“
What do you think was the decisive moment leading to another loss of points?
“We made mistakes in the penalty area in the situations when we conceded goals. We did not handle rival’s standard situations, but we did not play well in general. We did not fulfill coach’s instructions. We had been concentrating on something for the whole week, but failed to show it on the pitch.“
You spent a couple of months in Utrecht. How have you adapted to the playing system of AS?
“There have not been such big changes here. The coach promotes a lot of pressing which is probably the most significant change in comparison to the previous season. We were however not consistent enough in this. The problem is not the coach but the players. I do not understand it. We played as we were tired, but everything was fine during the week.“
How did you feel before reentering the Trenčín stadium?
“I was not nervous as I was not coming to an unknown environment. I was concentrating on the match. Of course, I felt some pre-start adrenaline, but I was quite confident.“
You were to become a wing in Utrecht, but you proved again that your place is in the penalty area…
“Whoever knows me as a player must confirm that I am a penalty-area player. Even people who do not know much about football must be pretty clear where my place is after seeing one game. I am simply not good enough to play in either of the wings. Maybe I do not have the ball so much, but I always patiently wait for a good scoring opportunity.”
