I was planning on making 2 changes for the game today against Sala in the cup. One was Milos Jakubek for Peter Coegley. This was simply because we have conceded a lot of goals from our left side and Milos has been in steady form in the training. I have no worries about Peter because he has the perfect attitude to fight back.
The second choice was to play Milos Volesak in place of Hodal. Milos turned up today with an extremely stiff neck and could not play. I asked Hodal if he would go in the goal and being the great professional he is he agreed enthousiastically.
He simply kept us in the game at crucial moments. Not because Sala where causing us lots of problems but 2 clear offside situations against us gave Sala 2 one on one chances to score but Hodal made 2 tremendous saves.
Out of nothing from a shot going wide from Minarcik, Jasurek managed to get on the end of it and score what was to be the one and only goal of the game.
We where not on top of our game the first half and didn`t create that many chances as we would have liked. The tempo of our passing was too low and Sala came with a very defensive tactic and hit us on the breaks.
The second half was much more in our advantage and again unbelievable chances, espeically Kamensky who had a header stopped and he hit the post with another good effort. What normally happens then is that a goal falls at the other end and it nearly did in the last minute of play. A ball came free for the striker of Sala and he just had to pass Hodal to score but again Hodal was the Hero and made an unbelievably important save. Not only did it let us win the game but we finally kept a clean sheet letting no goals go in.
This is for the team a boost for the coming game this weekend at home to Zlate Moravce.
When we score our chances then we will be back on track and hopefully gain more points in the league.
