"We can’t go any lower," said at the beginning of meeting with supporters Robert Rybnicek, general manager of AS Trencin. Football club, run by Dutch investors, is at the tail of chart with 4 points and 9:28 score. Management is despite these facts positive and claims Trencin is on a launch pad to soar up high.
Meeting attended coach Rob McDonald, his assistant Martin Stano and a couple of players. Supporters were represented by “old boys” remembring times of former Jednota and a dozen of faithful ultras.
Rybnicek with McDonald heard few very unpleasant opinions and questions. Manager has more than twice repeated that Trencin’s vision is a long track run. “New owner is a rich and smart man. He contemplates his investments very wisely. He could have brought a few players seven in summer. I am very glad though that our players have the opportunity to play. They have entire half a season to convince investors. In winter we assume four players to enter our squad. If necessary, even more. Only the strong ones will survive. Weak individuals will have to leave,” carried on Rybnicek.
English coach understands angry reactions of mainly older fans. He again reminded everyone that management and all people working around the team have a long term vision. It all reflects on progressive training. “Trencin is a beautiful, calm town that needs a bit of excitement. This excitement I hope will be caused by fans on the stadium, once again crowded with people.” He remebers similar meetings with supporters, where crowds of 2-3 thousands have gathered. Around 30 fans have gathered last evening. Coach did not mention how many points Trencin could have before the winter break.
Management is despite losses and huge number of received goals optimistic. So are players. “We work really hard for good results. We miss a bit of luck sometimes,” thinks goalkeeper Roman Hodal. “We play attractive, offensive football, but after first given away goal, our defense disappears”, he went on. Last example is from Kosice, where four the most faithful supporters did not miss. According to Hodal and captain Csaba Horvath, the team is working on its weaknesses. “It’s all about experience and mentality”, says Horvath. Older visitors were also asking about Juraj Czinege and his leaving form AS. Rybnicek said that his finacial requirements were unacceptable for the club and it would also be unfair to all the other players.
