The series of pre-season matches of AS Trenčín continued on Saturday. This time it was a derby against the top-league MFK Dubnica. Besides a lot of juniors, Stanley Aborah for whom it was a comeback after more than a year-long pause caused by an injury appeared in the lineup.
It was a midfield football in the opening quarter-hour. The away team threatened first when Matejov found Filo, but the forward of MFK missed. On the other side, Hlohovský and Kubík often tried to set up combinations. Two of the successful ones were however stopped by the assistant referee due to offsides. In the 31st minute, Kubík sent a vertical to Salinas, who shot technically from the penalty area line and opened the score – 1:0. In the 41st minute, Hlohovský came in for applause. He got rid of the rival’s defender by the side line, sent a cross pass to Kubík, but the ball was a bit higher than necessary.
Dubnica tried to level right at the beginning of the second half. Porázik moved the ball forward to Filo, but Volešák anticipated well and thwarted his chance. In the 54th minute, Porázik’s free kick found Chupáč’s head in the penalty area and it was 1:1. In the 64th minute, Valla shot technically and the Dubnica’s goalkeeper had a lot to do to push the ball away. In the 67th minute, Dubnica threatened again. Filo offered an excellent ball to Havrilko, but the AS defense blocked his attempt. In the 74th minute, Mazán nicely prepared a shooting opportunity in the penalty area. Igaz batted, but there came a corner kick of the home team. Štefánik sent the ball inside the penalty box and Godál’s header set the final score of the game.
