It was a multi-derby of the rivals being close to one another geographically as well as by their position in the league table on the Easter Saturday. And it was a good game, mainly thanks to the home team. Coach Guľa missed the injured Knapp and Gergel. Báez and Valla were pausing due to four yellows. On the other hand, after being banned in Zlaté Moravce, the captain Martin Ševela was available for the starting lineup again.
Trenčín started actively. Already in the 2nd minute, Salinas stamped the post of the away team’s goal. In the 5th minute, there came Štefánik’s first attempt. The goalkeeper however saved although with problems after a good technical shot by the debutant in the home team’s jersey. In the 15th minute, Kubík and Straka won the ball on the rival’s half, Kubík moved it to Štefánik, but neither the second attempt of the Trenčín youngster was successful. In the 20th minute, Kleščík uncommonly tried to endanger guests’ goal, but his shot went high. Three minutes later, Hlohovský sent a cross pass to Straka, but the AS forward did not reach on the ball. The first chance of the visiting team came in the 28th minute. Riška however missed standing in a good position after Jurga’s corner kick. After half an hour, Salinas started another offensive activity of AS. His free kick found Kleščík who moved it on to Hlohovský. His shot from the penalty area line was blocked by the rival’s defense. In the 39th minute, neither Pilát’s volley nor Jurga’s follow-up endangered Volešák. Just a minute later, Kleščík sent a good pass to Kubík whose cross-shot through the goal box went wide though. In the 41st minute, Luhový had a good chance, but his free kick from about 20 meters was blocked by the wall. Trenčín had two more chances at the end of the first half after corner kicks, but both Ševela and Godál failed to drive the ball into the net.
The most important moment of the game came in the 59th minute. Kleščík was at the beginning of the offensive activity of the home team, then Salinas took the ball and prepared an opportunity for Mazán. Although his hard shot didn’t end in the goal, the rebound got to Salinas again and the young Paraguayan decided the game with his sixth spring’s goal. The talented played then had another scoring opportunity, but his technical shot went just wide in the 64th minute. Neither Hlohovský’s free kick in the 67th minute was successful and that’s why the derby ended with a tight victory of AS.
