The main square in Trenčín was crowded on Saturday. The local football club AS organized third edition of the charitable event Stars for Children there. The attendants could see top sportsmen. There were footballers such as Martin Škrtel, Marek Hamšík, Stanislav Šesták, Juraj Kucka, and Tomáš Galásek as well as famous hockey players Marián Hossa, Pavol Demitra, Marián Gáborík, Ľubomír Višňovský, Jaroslav Halák etc. Besides the teams of football and hockey stars, the home Corgoň-League newcomer AS Trenčín and the known team of MUFUZA consisting of Slovak actors and musicians who entertained the watchers not only by their football skills participated in the tournament of four teams.
"It was the first time we organized the event in the square, but we can say it was successful again. We would like to thank to the partners and everyone who supported it as well as to the thousands of people who came. I believe that everyone had fun and a nice Saturday afternoon," said the PR manager of the organizer Martin Galajda for SITA.
AS Trenčín became the winner of the tournament, but that wasn’t the most important thing. “It isn’t easy to organize an event like this, but we’re still ready to do it. It’s wonderful to see satisfied people and happiness in their faces. We’re glad that so many stars came and contributed to a nice thing – they entertained the sport fans, gave away a lot of autographs, and took many pictures with children for whom they are big idols,“ Galajda remarked. As he further said, the money collected through this charitable event will go to the Houses of Social Services Demy and Nosice and to the foundation of Marián Hossa Hoss Heroes. Besides, there will be donations to several individuals who need them. The organizers were able to raise about 13.000 EUR in the previous two years from the partners and visitors.
"We don’t have the exact amount for this year yet. We can say however that it’s definitely going to be more than in any of the previous years. It’s quite real that the number will have five digits," added Galajda. The entrance fees to the official bus of FC Barcelona and profit from auctions of jerseys and souvenirs will be included in the overall amount. The Slovak football national team player and defender of FC Liverpool Martin Škrtel paid for the MUFUZA jersey signed by the members of the club 200 EUR for instance. "We would like to continue organizing the event in the future. We’re already thinking of its fourth year that should take place next year," concluded Martin Galajda.
