One of the best keepers in the 70’s, after his short stay in last year, appeared in Trencin again. “My first time in Trencin was after an agreement with La Ling. I was to prepare an evaluation of keepers,” described his last year visit Piet Schrijvers. During his present stay his main task is to share his rich experience with new keeper’s coach Roman Hodal.
“Roman will soon become an excellent coach. He is very active. I quite appreciate that he quickly wants to overcome the language berrier. His English is imrpoving every day. All others should take him as an example. Football terminology is quite simple. I do believe that language barrier that we still can see in the club will soon disappear, if eveyone takes Roman’s approach,” offeres advice legendary keeper.
Former Dutch National Team Member perceives team atmosphere to be positive: “It is an unbelievable difference. Last autumn all players’ heads were bowed down, as if lifeless. Now, it seems to be a well chosen group of guys, as if fresh wind was blown in. Foreign players seem to mingle prerfectly within the group. I also feel great about how players and organizational team work closely together. This team believes in his abilities. I sense a complete change compared with my last visit. Absolutely different look Stano and Ancic. They are more relaxed, happier.”
Team building continues also outside of the stadium. We spend heaps of time in mutual discussions. Of course most ot the time we are talking about football, not only Trencin being our topic. We talk about Ajax, Manchaster… Time to time we talk about families,” says always smiling Schrijvers. Cooporeation with young keepers such as Roznik and Volesak is on a very good level. Piet believes that with their support, no one has to be afraid of the coming period.
